Perception, Deception, and Reality

A Picture Says A Thousand Words
But a picture can be edited !

I believe, that I should post a post, that relates to the title above. As I read some other posts on someone elses blog.

I am not about to tell those scholars that have studied psychology or others what reality is. That would be counter productive to what they as individuals have learnt in their studies at their prospective instituions.

What I will tell them, and anyone else that cares to view this posting, is that Reality is Relative ! It is relative to the individual ! As one can see from a previoius post below.

Perception, Deception and Reality are malleable qualities that exist in the collective whole that, we, as humans, define as "Reality". Believe me! I have the street experience to back it up.

How do I arrive at this conclusion you may well ask. Well, being a Private Investigator is a good grounding for any type of Perception, Deception, Reality manipulation. It is an Art ! Countless times during my work I have stood next to people and conversed with them in disguise. All the time manipulating their perceptions of a specific aspect of a case. Some of whom were, as the education systems defines, "Well Educated". More often that not, those people were the easiest to deceive.

Disguise is a common technique, for those of us who perform in this role to earn our living. Although, not necessarily physical. As are others. All of the qualities that Perception, Deception and Reality define are easy to manipulate if one has the inherent education. An education that usually comes from the street.

Yes, booksmarts are a wonderful thing, but they fail into insignificance when confronted with a savvy streetsmart individual. How many of us, partake in our daily lives, with not even a second thought as to our immediate surroundings ? Be truthful, how many!

Here is a quick test to see if you understand or believe what I am saying here.

Q. The last time that you went to a public place, how many people were in the direct vicinity? What were they doing? Who was the proverbial "Man in Charge"? What were others doing? Who was the person sitting in a corner away from others and the lime light? What colour were the walls? What was the general type of clothing worn by most people? Etc etc etc.

What one perceives as "Real", is, in some situations, DEFINATELY NOT ! The human mind expects to see what it expects to see! Forget the buggings and phone taps, as portrayed in movies. That, although it does happen, is about as far from the truth as one could get!

The manipulation of a persons perceptions and reality occurs on a far far more personal level. Booksmarts, coupled with Streetsmarts, are a far better education than that provided by any educational instiution.

And when you have been six foot away from someone, in their own house, you will believe that to !!!

" She says the jungle... it just came alive and took him. By Poncho, in the movie Predator".
